I just can’t get enough of MP3 blogs. As someone who enjoys the challenge of peeling back the onion in search of new and kick ass music from around the world, these blogs are essential. If you take a look at the left sidebar, I already have a few listed that are my prime targets. Though, as with any journey in this world, sometimes you just turn a corner and slam into something unexpected that takes you to places that you never expected….and sometimes you just find a little slice of Shangri-La.

Last night I slammed into 3hive.com. It was as if I turned down a side street here in Somerville and found my future wife. First things first, if you like music add this to your RSS reader right now. Don’t ask questions, just do it. You will thank me later.

3hive is what an mp3 blog should be. Standard frequent posts, informative yet not too wordy, broken down by artist, genre, record label, contains links to artist site and label, readable and intuitive layout, and of course links to mp3 files. When I say links to MP3’s, I don’t mean one link to some kid’s computer in Kansas. These guys put the work in to find links that will last and include as many as they can find. Check out this post they did on one of akaRaff’s favorite band, Aquaduct, back in October 2004 for a great preview of what these guys have to offer.

I think the best thing about the site is the way they configured the search and category lookups on their side bar. You have the ability to search by key word, but even better you can select from individual artist, genre, record label, or monthly archive drop-down lists to get to where you want to fast.

This is one hell of a resource. They have been around since February 2004 which makes for a landslide of content for even the most high-brow of music listeners. So don’t take my word for it. Get off you ass and check it out for yourself.
