Even though people are fuming over the fact that a few small indie labels (including Merge, Secretly Canadian, Touch and Go, and Caroline) are selling their gear over at Best Buy, I, as a consumer of music goods finds it hard to complain. Arcade Fire, Cat Power, Broken Social Scene, and many more for only $7.99 a pop.
It is a shame that these great artists can’t be found by the mainstream without the use of a Best Buy, Walmart, or other montrous chain stores. I mean, this marketing crap that Best Buy put together for this gig is glommed with ’someone get the Timberlake pumping and pass me the thesauraus. I need another word for Coldplay’ crap:
Being a fiercely individual musical visionary doesn’t always equal Top 10 hits. But that doesn’t mean you should be passing these not-exactly-mainstream artists by.For a limited time, taking a chance on some of the most adventurous music being made today costs just $7.99!
Choose from 20 impress-your-friends selections, including the Coldplay-ish piano pop of Aqualung, the swirling guitar work of Calla, and the Canadian collaboration of Broken Social Scene. Stock up today!
What a joke. Though $7.99 is hard to pass up. Life is full of hard decisions.
Thanks to Culture Bully for his post on the subject.
Enjoy.
