The Boston duo known as the Dresden Dolls describe their band’s sound as ‘Brechtian punk cabaret’. Consisting of songwriter Amanda Palmer on vocals and piano and Brian Viglione on drums and guitar, the Dolls have a totally original style that sounds like noone else. They hit the big time this past year opening for Nine Inch Nails on their recent tour and playing festivals like Coachella, Reading and Lollapalooza. They were the 2003 winners of the WBCN rock ‘n’ roll rumble, and their self-titled debut was named local album of the year by the Boston Phoenix and WFNX. You can check out Amanda Palmer doing a special solo performance July 20th at The Paradise, before the band takes off for Japan to play at the Fuji Rock Festival.
