I picked up the new Coldplay album, X&Y, last week and have been giving it a listen to see where it would take me. Unfortunately, the lack of thinking out of the Parachutes/A Rush of Blood to the Head box has got me a bit disappointed. Hollaback and I were talking about it this weekend over a few too many cold ones and agree that this band needs to shake it’s pop commercialized moniker that it seems to thrive on and get back to making some new and creative music. Maybe they should hang out with Radiohead for a while and learn what it is like to be a bit more experimental. I guess that is the way of the Record Industry. For those looking to see growth and risk taking with new album releases, this one is definately a bummer. Let me know what you think…Coldplay is on the Clock.

I didn’t realize Coldplay was actually a real band, I thought they were just a commercial. If you want something Cold, try Coldcut, a great acid trip-hop electronica outfit minus the Paltrow.

having not listened to X & Y i have spoke w/ enough people that i would agree that coldplay leaves a lot to be desired (i have heard the single and i dont need to hear the rest of the album). it sounds like x & y are the b sides to a rush of blood. dont get me wrong, the band has a nitche but if they want to grow they have to get off the merry-go-round. i would be a seller of X& Y
