A few days ago I posted about last.FM and how much I was enjoying it. I am not here to go back on my words. In fact I am enjoying it even more than I was before. I am here to write about one issue (well more like a small annoyance) that I had and the solution that I found to it.
The little issue is this. If you want to listen to any of the recommended radio streams from their site you have to download the last.FM Player. For the occasional user this is probably acceptable but for a digital audio junky like me it is not. Since I ussually listen to music streamed from iTunes to my hifi I was stuck listening to my own tunes and using last.FM as a resource to find new music.
That was the case until I found the Last.FM Proxy. This little open source download took 5 minutes to set up (just follow the directions…it is not that hard..email me if you are having issues) and I can now listen to streamed radio directly from last.FM via my iTunes. I am definately happy with last.FM. Check out my profile to see what I am listening to right now.
Enjoy.

Any idea how you control which playlist is played through the script? I want my recommendations to play through it. Most of the things that are in my library are in there because I’ve played them from iTunes on my machine … I don’t want to be streaming that music.

Thanks … I am going to give this a try … I am going to setup a home network via airtunes and apple iphone remote … the remote only controls itunes so i was not able to access the volume, etc. out by my pool through my iphone … I’ll report back on my success.
