Here TomorrowAbout a year ago Brett Tieman of The Mugs got in touch with me via MySpace. I get a bunch of requests each week about posting new tracks for bands but unfortunately most are just not ready for general listening and should just stick to their Jack Johnson covers. The Mugs were not one of those bands.

Brett sent me their first Album, “Paper Scissors Rock ” to listen to and listen I did. At the time I was traveling alot and I found the album on unconscious iPod repeat. As I noted when I posted about The Mugs on Pocket|Trax, I felt their sound emanated “Fragile like rice paper. Tough like pitbull. The Spectrum of Rock.” and for me the album had curb appeal that was inline with my aging music tastes. (I haven’t bought a Tool album in a long long time)

When Brett once again shot over their new Album [”Here Tomorrow”] last summer I quickly downloaded the tracks and got them into the rotation. Even though their overall sound remains the same, their new album exudes confidence that was not present in their first go around. A now well-oiled machine from Brooklyn NYC, The Mugs are producing tracks that can comfortably mingle with a higher echelon of Indie rock and they have been able to build a solid fan base even in this world of over-saturation. I know one thing….they definitely have a fan, if not many fans, here in Boston. Hell, there are few bands that I have come across that have promised to get me drunk on Guinness the next time they roll through town! Please just Guinness…no Car Bombs.

For additional ear-candy, check out their blog to hear their live, 5 song performance/interview on WOXY.

Oh yea..one more thing…Mug is spelled with 1 “g”not 2. The Muggs were eaten by the devil much like Of Montreal.

Enjoy and Good Luck guys.
